Downtown Shootout

by Heat

Imagine what this team is going to be like on a daily basis.  Think of the excitement and energy.  Some question whether we’ll be able to play D against a guy like Dwight Howard.  Valid point but the real question is how are teams going to play D against us?

If someone doesn’t want to see this succeed they aren’t going to imagine it succeeding.  They’ll go straight to the obvious which is defending dominant big men.  Luckily there aren’t many out there but even in the case of a Dwight Howard, who cares?  I highly doubt this team is going to spend more time caring about a big man scoring than the opposing team worries about our guys coming at them in every way possible.

Another situation for the opposing team is going to be recovering from big leads.  We’ll be the strongest in the beginning of games and the ball’s going to the hot hands.  I don’t think many teams are going to be in a position to post up big men late in games since the likely scenario is going to put them behind and likely far behind at that stage of the game.

Defense is being weighed too heavily here, especially when we’re such an offensively driven team.  The core three will get their points.  Not much that other teams can do about that.  I don’t really see how they can do much about Miller or House either.  It’s going to be a battle for other teams to find ways to beat this team or even be in a position to beat them late in games.

I think the Lakers are ready when healthy to match up well but other than that I find it hard to develop concerns.  It’s not about the D with the Heat, it’s about outscoring us.  Speaking of the Heat and shootouts I’m reminded of one of the best Heat shootouts of all time.  I get the feeling that the action in the preceding video is going to match the action that we’ll see every game.

This will be so much fun to watch. There is not many teams that will be able to keep up with this heat roster.

I think the offense will be there but remember Riley and in this case Spoelstra will always be a defensive minded team first..they will preach D..and with great weak side defenders like James and Wade helping the guys in the post I think they'll be more than fine
