Spoelstra added that “We’ll still be able to move forward with the guys we have.”
Wade, who spoke of possibly missing “a couple of weeks,” knew he had an issue immediately.
“I just felt it pull,” he said, “so I knew automatically it was a pulled hamstring. I was a little sore coming into the game, so I tried to do everything I could to make it go away.
“They’ll get a lot of time to see the Big Three and our team play together. I’d rather have it now than have it later.”
James felt something might be wrong. “The last few days, D-Wade has been mentioning his hamstring has been a little tight,” James said.
Bosh said he wasn’t even aware Wade was hurt. “I thought he had just got subbed out at the moment,” he said. Bosh, who missed several games during Toronto’s playoff push because of the same injury last season, said it is important Wade does not rush back. “You have to make sure you respect it,” he said.
When asked about how it felt to be playing for the Heat James replied, “I was just anxious to get back on the court. It was something I waited for all summer. The reception from the fans was awesome.”
“We passed the test.”
