It appears Mike Bibby will be taking his talents to South Beach, where he attempts to solve the Heat’s season-long problem at point guard. Miami has been looking to upgrade at the position as Mario Chalmers and Carlos Arroyo have both struggled.
Bibby is a veteran with multiple years of playoff experience in both Sacramento and Atlanta. He has played many meaningful games and has experience taking big shots at the end of games. His three-point shooting will be a welcomed addition to the team as well. Bibby is shooting 44% from long distance this season.
Bibby was traded to Atlanta back in 2008 from Sacramento. His leadership and decision making helped lead the Hawks to a nice run in the playoffs, taking the Boston Celtics to a seventh game. Bibby will be asked to play a similar role with Miami.
It also is being reported that the Heat is the front-runner to sign Troy Murphy who has bought out from his contract as well. As I have stated before, Murphy would be a nice addition to this roster. Not only does he shoot the ball well, but he grabs rebounds. Both Murphy and Bibby can knock down open jump shots which has been a problem for the Heat as of late. Perhaps these late additions can reinforce a roster that has struggled to find any form of consistency this season.
