Phoenix Suns’ star point guard Steve Nash joined the Dan Patrick Show today. Nash made some interesting comments that should catch the attention of all Miami Heat fans.
“I’m not coming back to the Suns if there isn’t improvement,” Nash told Patrick.
Nash did not rule out the possibility of returning to the Suns, but did say that he was excited to become a free agent this summer and explore his options.
One of those options discussed, the Miami Heat.
“I would listen,” Nash said. “He’s phenomenal. I love what they’re doing there. A lot of people don’t like them because they put all that talent there. But they’re professional, they play hard, they play together. Their coaching staff has done a great job, so I have a tremendous amount of respect for them.
“I would definitely listen.”
Nash would definitely be an interesting addition to the Heat. He would make the team instantly better as a pure point guard that could set the Heat up in a half court offense. He also has played a majority of his career in a run and gun offense.
Nash either way would be a major upgrade to the Miami Heat offense.
One drawback for the Heat would be that joining the Heat would mean that Nash would be leaving millions of dollars on the table. The Heat will be over the salary cap in 2013 and would only have the MLE to offer.
Nash has earned $120 million in his career, so maybe winning a championship is something he would sacrifice a few million for.
Heat fans are waiting and hoping this happens! But first, we still need to go out and try to win the 2012 NBA Finals with our current team!
