The 34-year-old center was arguably the most important midseason free agent acquisition last season and played an huge part in Miami’s Championship run, giving hard minutes off the bench. The Heat were 37-3 with him during the regular season.

Without Andersen, the Heat likely would not have made it past the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

It has been a rocky road to Andersen’s ring. He was picked up by the Heat after being amnestied by the Denver Nuggets and missed two full NBA seasons from 2006-2008 after being banned for violating the league’s substance abuse policy.

Now Andersen can count on being a key part for the Heat, where he has been welcomed by a strong locker room.

Birdman provides heart and hustle off the bench. He’s an energy bomb that Goku would be jealous of. Need proof? There is a reason he is the one that starts off this wonderful little ditty.

CAW! WELCOME BACK BIRDMAN!
