Flash, Way of Wade, D-Wade…. Whatever it is that you call him, Dwyane Wade is easily one of, if not the biggest name in the history of the Miami Heat. Before the Miami Heat drafted Dwyane Wade 5th overall in the 2003 NBA Draft, the Heat were a franchise that always needed that one more player to reach the next level.
It didn’t take long for the franchise to reach the championship level that they have always desired. Just a few years after being drafted by the Heat, Dwyane Wade was able to propel the Heat to the top of the basketball world. The young guard out of Marquette instantly took control of not only this team, but also the city of Miami. Although now Wade has a smaller role now as opposed to the beginning of his career, Wade has been a major part as to why the Miami Heat have been able to make it to the NBA Finals for three straight years; winning two championships.
Unfortunately, Dwyane Wade isn’t the flashy player he once was, the more older and experienced Wade is still a great sight to see. Without the Miami Heat drafting Dwyane Wade, this franchise might not be what it is today. I think it’s safe to say that Dwyane Wade put this franchise on the map. He’s been through the good and the bad and has been nothing but loyal to this franchise his entire career.
Is it a coincidence that they mayor of Miami changed Miami-Dade County to Wade County? I don’t think so, clearly Dwyane Wade is the greatest person in the 25 year history of this eccentric franchise.
