Now that Mike Miller has cleared the amnesty wire, he is free to sign with any team that he chooses. With multiple teams showing great interest in signing Miller, things will start to get interesting real soon. Top contending teams in the Western Conference such as the Oklahoma City Thunder, San Antonio Spurs and the Memphis Grizzles have quickly become the prime candidates to sign Miller.
However, there are still other teams in the Western Conference that believe they have a good shot at signing Miller. According to a source close to Miller’s signing process, the Denver Nuggets are beginning to draw strong consideration from the 33-year-old forward. The Nuggets, a team that are desperately trying to find a forward to replace the likes of Andre Iguodala and Corey Brewer, after losing them in free agency.
Due to his high risk of receiving an injury, Miller has seen his minutes per game reduce significantly over the past few seasons. Despite his chances of injury being higher than most, Miller can still bring great energy off the bench. Not only is his energy off the bench spectacular, but Miller has also proved to be one of the best three point shooters in the NBA, after shooting over 40% from the three the past two seasons.
Whoever ends up signing Miller is going to get one heck of a ball player. Ultimately, I think Miller will decide to return to the Memphis Grizzlies to finish off what has been an absolutely wonderful career.
