No. 9: Memphis Grizzlies

Still not sure why I put Memphis this high. But I’m still not sure why they were so good last season. Oh yeah, because they were the best defensive team in the league.

New head coach David Joerger takes over for Lionel Hollins, who did a great job. But Joersjgh… But Jordmm… But Ja… I’ll call him Dave. But Dave was on the staff last season and probably won’t cause as much friction with the front office all while maintaining a fluid transition.

The defense will be good once again, led by Marc (>) Gasol and Tony Allen. Mike Conley showed he is a terrific point guard who is capable of leading the team and the offense. Zach Randolph is a Bear/Cactus hybrid who is unstoppable at times. And JARRYD BAYLESS… I mean, how can you not like this guy?

The lack of scoring talent is a sign of worry. The team drafted Jamaal Franklin out of UNLV to help with that. But I’m betting on the consistent improvement of Conley to keep this team in the top 10.
