As if adding former No.1 overall pick Greg Oden wasn’t enough, the Miami Heat reportedly have their sights set on another big man to add to their team. The player is the seven footer, Hassan Whiteside.
According to a report by Alex Kennedy of Hoopsworld, he tweeted…
The Knicks, Bucks and Heat are among the teams that have expressed interest in free agent Hassan Whiteside, according to a source.

Now, chances are you’ve probably never heard of Whiteside. So here’s a quick briefing: The big man was drafted 33rd overall by the Sacremento Kings in the 2010 NBA draft. In his 2009-2010 season with the Thundering Herd of… “We are… MARSHALL!”, Whiteside averaged 5.4 blocks per game along with 13.1 points and 8.9 rebounds. His professional career has been relatively unsuccessful to date, as he’s mainly bounced around the developmental league after being waived by the Kings in 2011. However, Whiteside did average 0.8 blocks in only 6 minutes of play during the 2011 NBA season with the Kings. A promising number.
No mystery here. The Heat are after length and size in the paint. Whiteside fits both categories.
