Juwan Howard will retire and join the Miami Heat’s coaching staff after a series of front office moves to the Heat front office. Many of the names remain the same, but will have new titles in front of them.
The Heat announced several front office promotions, including Andy Elisburg to Senior Vice President, Basketball Operations/General Manager, Adam Simon to Assistant General Manager/General Manager Sioux Falls Skyforce, Dan Craig to Assistant Coach/Player Development, Chad Kammerer to Director of NBA Scouting/Advance Scout, Keith Askins to Director of College and Pro Scouting and the hiring of Howard to Assistant Coach/Player Development.
None of these moves come as a surprise, as members like Howard, Craig and the others deserved promotions following two straight championship runs.
Craig, who served as head coach of the Heat’s summer league teams in Orlando and Las Vegas, will leave the film room and join Spoelstra on the sidelines.
Elisburg, who has been with the team for 25 years, will serve as Senior Vice President, Basketball Operations/General Manager. Simon has been named Assistant General Manager/General Manger Sioux Falls Skyforce and will serve as Elisburg’s assistant.
Despite all of these moves, Pat Riley is still in charge.
