In a game that was much closer than it probably should have been, the Heat defeated the Orlando Magic 101-99, to improve to 10-3 and increase their winning streak to 6 games.
For the Heat, Dwyane Wade led the way with 27 points. LeBron James added 22 points, including the game winner with 15.1 seconds left, to go along with 9 rebounds and 7 assists. Chris Bosh pitched in 15 points and 6 rebounds.
For the Magic, Glen Davis led the team with 20 points off the bench. Arron Afflalo scored 18 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 5 assists. Rookie Victor Oladipo contributed 17 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists.
The Heat started off slowly both offensively and defensively, scoring only 39 points in the first half, and giving up 55 points in the process, including a 35 point second quarter for the Magic. In addition to that, James only scored 3 points in the first half. Things picked up for both James and the Heat after the break, as he scored 9 points in the third and the Heat were able to close their deficit to six. Wade was also big in the quarter, scoring 9 points as well. James then went on to add 10 more points in the 4th quarter, including the jumper to take the lead.
There wasn’t much production from the bench tonight, although Norris Cole came off the bench to hit some big time shots. The slow starts seemed to be a thing of the past, but they surfaced yet again tonight, for an entire half this time. Luckily, the greatness of Wade and James was able to be placed on full display tonight to compensate.
The Heat’s next game is at home Monday night against the Phoenix Suns. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
