LeBron James dropped a verse Friday, posting his rap on Instagram as a part of “4 Bar Friday,” a game developed by second-year point guard Damian Lillard.
Every Friday, Lillard asks participants to compose and perform four lines and post it on Instagram. Lillard posts his favorites on 4barfriday.com.
Before today, Lillard was not able to get the NBA’s biggest stars — although Paul George, Iman Shumpert and rookie teammate C.J. McCollum have participated. LeBron is arguably the only household name to get in on this movement.
The rap? It’s okay. It’s no “Control” verse, but LeBron definitely put some effort into it–and used it as a shout out to the rest of the league.
“Was dubbed King James before I even had a throne to sit on/ Mama knew I was a star before I had a bib to spit on/ Two young ones now, you know I can’t let them down/ Striving for greatness ’till all three of us wear a crown.”
All three of us? Meaning he and his kids? Or does he mean himself, Wade and Bosh? I’m reading too much into this. I know. Check out the video!
