Dwyane Wade will not play against the Brooklyn Nets in the second part of the Miami Heat’s back-to-back series in New York.
Wade has been on a stretch of health as of late, but that ends tonight with his sitting. He has played in seven-straight games including Miami’s loss against the New York Knicks Thursday night. The Sun Sentinel reported that Wade was hopeful to play against the Brooklyn Nets Friday.
“Right now,” he said, “it’s still game to game. I’m going to play the Knicks game, and we’ll see how I feel after that game and hopefully I feel great, because I want to play the Brooklyn game.
Coach Erik Spoelstra and Wade have been cautious this season, understanding that the goal is to be healthy for the post season.
“Obviously the regular season is important,” he said, “but we all understand that it’s about getting guys healthy for April, May, June.”
Wade was to wear “D. Wade” tonight as the Heat and Nets will wear their Name Collection jerseys tonight. Miami is 4-4 without Wade this season and shouldn’t need Wade to beat the Nets, who will be without Deron Williams and Brook Lopez.
