As the reigning two-time NBA Champions, the Miami Heat took another trip to the White House on Tuesday. LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and other Heat players have been taking to Instagram sharing moments of their time in D.C., including inside the doors of the White House.
The replayed “Mama I made it” soundbite from James and a few pictures during last year’s visit are things we’ve likely seen. What we didn’t have access to is the 30 minutes of private time the team spent with President Obama before the ceremony, away from the media. The players and staff reflected on the encounter in appreciation and admiration for the private moment.
“Whenever you go to the White House, it’s special. I don’t care how many times. Our president is a very personable guy. He loves the sport that we play.” Dwyane Wade said.
“He spent 30 seconds to a minute with every one of us, which I thought was an incredible touch,” said Coach Erik Spoelstra.
A black Heat decorated replica of the Larry O’Brien trophy was signed by the players and given to the President as one of the gifts from the team. Although Miami started off this six game road trip with losses to Brooklyn and New York, I doubt they can stay too down after going on team trips like this one. Below, you can see that a few of the gentlemen were clean in black at the White House.
