After seeing Carmelo Anthony go for 62 points Friday night at Madison Square Garden and watching Kevin Durant rename January, “Januranty” (sorry), LeBron James said he might just go off one of these nights.
James told Michael Wallace of ESPN that he may try to score 60 points in an upcoming game.
LeBron says he may try to go for his own 60-pt moment one these day after seeing Melo and Durant.

A few weeks back, LeBron noted he was growing jealous of Durant’s scoring numbers, saying that he wishes he could put up 30 shots one night. He followed that comment up with an average-for-LeBron performance against the Brooklyn Nets. So, while speculation is fun, it doesn’t mean he will necessarily go Melo and ball hog. It just isn’t his nature.
However, I like this competitveness from James. For someone who watched the rest of the Association very closely, why wouldn’t he want to show up these scoring machines? James posted a picture on Instagram congratulating Anthony on his record night.
Don’t you think LeBron would love to own that record?
If we know anything about James, he likes the spotlight and he loves to amaze. We also know he loves to play at Madison Square Garden, so I have February 1, when the Heat visit the New York Knicks at MSG on ESPN, circled on my calendar.
