This article was updated at 10:11 p.m. ET. with news of Magic buying out Glen Davis’ contract.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports first reported that the Orlando Magic were working on a buyout of forward Glen Davis.
The Orlando Sentinel is reporting that it is a done deal.
The Magic and Davis have reached a buyout agreement that will end the burly power forward’s tenure with the franchise.
If Davis becomes available, he would be on the Heat’s short list of players to add. Miami freed up a roster spot by trading guard Roger Mason Jr. to the Sacramento Kings.
Davis’ size and midrange shooting abilities would mimic the production the Heat recieved from Udonis Haslem for years.
Haslem’s production has taken a nose-dive this season and is no longer a part of the regular rotation.
That left a gaping hole in Miami’s front-court rotation, especially if you are in the camp that believes every team needs three big men in the rotation.
The Heat have Chris Bosh and Chris Andersen, but desperately need someone else. Davis could spell both Chris’s at either forward or center.
No deal is done just yet, however. So don’t get your hopes up, Heat fans.
