Daily Shootaround: Has Battier Lost His Starting Job?

Here are today’s most interesting stories about the Miami Heat from around the Web.

  • Bleacher Report’s Ethan Skolnick reports on the interaction between LeBron James and legendary Miami Dolphins coach Don Shula at a recent charity dinner.

Takeway: Reading about how LeBron and Shula, both from Ohio, were excited to meet eachother is just… well… really cool.

  • LeBron and his wife, Savannah Brinson, are expecting, according to a report cited by the Miami Herald’s  Joseph Goodman.

Takeaway: This would be the third child for the couple. For Heat fans, this is just one more reason for LeBron not to uproot his family this summer.

  • The team’s website is selling shirts to commemorate LeBron James’ 61-point game on March 3 against the Charlotte Bobcats.

Takeaway: They ‘ight.

  • Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that there is no indication of whether or not Shane Battier, who was benched in favor of Greg Oden against the Rockets Sunday, has lost his starting job.

Takeway: In his quotes, Battier sounds like he prefers coming off the bench. Call it being a team player, but there is no denying that he looked much better in that role Sunday.
