It appears that our suspicions were true. Shane Battier will, indeed, be retiring after this season.
Yes. Shane Battier is retiring after season. No more equivocating. "It would take an act of God to change it & that act of God hasn't come."

Battier, 36, is in his 12th NBA season. His contract expires after this season. It was unclear if Miami would move to bring Battier back even if he didn’t hang ‘em up. Battier is making 10 percent fewer three-pointers this season, down to 33.3 percent. He also looks beaten up and tired after defending guys bigger than him the last two seasons.
Battier has been one of my, and many Heat fans’, favorite players since he joined Miami in the summer of 2011. He won two Championships with the Heat, and hopefully will win one more before riding into the sunset–er–spending his weekdays at Denny’s.
