The Heat fell to the Washington Wizards in an ugly game, 114-93. The loss drops the Heat record to 54-27 on the season, and secures them the second seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
There isn’t much to say about this one, as the Heat decided earlier in the day to concede the first seed to the Pacers. They did so by resting LeBron James and Chris Bosh in preparation for the playoff run. Even though James and Bosh don’t guarantee victory in any way, not having them on the floor certainly led to the poor showing on the part of the Heat. The Wizards largest lead at one point had gotten to 36.
While the loss was disappointing, it was good to see Michael Beasley get off the bench to play extended minutes for the first time in a long while. Although he is a defensive liability, his scoring could definitely be the difference in a playoff game down the line.
The Heat’s final game of the regular season will be at home, as they welcome the Philadelphia 76ers (18-63). The tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 pm.
