Deserving of much-needed rest, LeBron James will sit out tonight’s Miami Heat game against the Washington Wizards, the team announced. Chris Bosh will join LeBron courtside.
Dwayne Wade, who made his return Saturday against the Atlanta Hawks after missing nine-straight games, is slated to play on restricted minutes.
Mario Chalmers, Toney Douglas, Wade, Shane Battier and Udonis Haslem will start. Yes, that means Wade will be playing small forward.
Following the loss to the Hawks and the Indiana Pacers’ win against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday, Miami is likely to get the second seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.
Rather than play out these two games and hope the Pacers lose to a tanking Orlando Magic team, coach Erik Spoelstra has opted to give his star players some rest heading into the playoffs.
Spoelstra: "There's a storm coming. And it's time for us to really start preparing for that storm."

James and Bosh will likely sit the final game of the regular season against the Philadelphia 76ers Wednesday too.
