In the Miami Heat’s finale against the Philadelphia 76ers, Shane Battier capped off his last regular season by hitting quite the milestone.
Battier needed 36 minutes of playing time to reach 30,000 career, regular season minutes in the NBA. He played much of the game, but was seated so Michael Beasley could get some run.
When Beasley went down after tweaking his ankle in the fourth quarter, the door opened for Battier.
“Once I sniffed it, it was like a dog to a T-bone. I had to have it,” Battier said after the game.
“The novelty of playing in the NBA and living my dream is still there and I’m very proud of it.”
