Steve Kerr, who has been the hottest name in the coaching carousel, was one of two media members to vote for LeBron James as Defensive Player of the Year. Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah won the award with 100 votes.
Kerr, mostly linked to the New York Knicks coaching gig, voted James, Noah and then Roy Hibbert. The voting was released by the NBA. You can see who voted for who here.
LeBron James expressed interest in wanting the DPOY award earlier this season. James, one of the few players who can defend all five positions, normally would have a case.
But James has posted his worst defensive rating in five seasons. LeBron had allowed fewer than 100 points per 100 possessions in each year with Miami before allowing 103.8 points per 100 possessions this season, per NBA.com statistics.
Maybe Kerr just has a thing for wing defenders. Good thing the Knicks have Carmelo Anthony and J.R. Smith! Amiright?
