The Charlotte Bobcats know what they’re going up against in the Miami Heat and the team is humbled to say the least. While it may not seem that way when their big men are throwing elbows and their team is fighting against the tide to win when it won’t matter, the team knowns the greatness it is up against and that respect starts with their head coach.
You can’t find anyone in the NBA who thinks anything other than the best of Steve Clifford and he had some pretty big words for the Miami Heat when asked about how powerful a roster he’s facing.
Clifford said for all the acclaim the Heat have received, it still might not be enough, “People obviously respect their team and their talent, but I don’t think they realize what great basketball they play.”
That’s a heavy statement, as the Heat have garnered a lot of respect over the years they’ve had the Big 3 in town and they’ve played a lot of good basketball. But it’s a sign of the type of head coach Clifford is that he can see through the hype and the glitz to the solid basketball being played and while he wants to win, the respect he has for his opponent is admirable.
