If you watched last night’s game between the Heat and Bobcats, then you likely saw one of the hardest fouls you’re likely to see delivered above the belt to another player. Charlotte’s Josh McRoberts went up to defend a LeBron James shot and ended up going straight to his throat with flying elbow.
It looked bad and it looked flagrant and the NBA will likely be looking into the matter before Game 3 tips off. According to beat writer Ira Winderman, the Bobcats and McRoberts could be looking t a suspension as well as a fine for the nasty hit.
At the least, expect an upgrade to a Flagrant 1 and a fine for McRoberts. But that one was awfully close to crossing the line. Without McRoberts, I can’t see Charlotte do anything but go small, considering they didn’t even play Bismack Biyombo in Game 2.
It was a bad play and even those who are still cold on LeBron have to admit that the play was uncalled for and vicious. Whether McRoberts gets suspended is irrelevant to the series as the Bobcats will lose with or without him. The only thing it does do is give the Heat even more of a reason to want to win and do so in an embarrassing way.
