Dwyane Wade: Allen Iverson "One of the Greatest Who's Ever Played"

The Tribeca Film Festival screened a film called Iverson on April 27, a documentary on the controversial, 11-year career on NBA great Allen Iverson.

In a clip published on YouTube, Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade spoke about Iverson.

“He’s an icon around the word,” Wade said. “A powerful power and one of the greatest that’s ever played professional sports.”

The documentary is from Iverson’s perspective, according to Stack.com, and explores his impact on the league. Iverson also voices his frustration with how the media handled his “practice” comments.

Just an FYI, the documentary is on Allen Iverson’s entire life from the day he was born to his post-NBA career. It is an emotional look at the things he struggled with in his personal life and how he overcame those things and then was faced with new demons to overcome. It does look at his NBA career, but from my understanding that is only one aspect of many the documentary looks at. AI is a complex person with a huge heart, who was at times very troubled, leading him to make many mistakes in his life. But he was/is a hero to many, including me.

One more thing. Dwayne Wade did not say “powerful power.” He said Allen is “pound for pound” one of the greatest athletes who has ever played in professional sports. I think you misheard him.
