The biggest story in sports — and politics — is the scandal involving Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling and his heinous view on the world he made public in his own words over the weekend. Now that he’s been rightly banned for life by Adam Silver, the next move is to push Sterling out as owner of the team and that’s something that LeBron James wholly supports.
“But the job is still not done,” James continued. “We need the owners to step up and do their part…. I believe [the owners’ votes] will be in favor of what we all believe in. I’ve seen some owners say they’re in favor of the decision Adam Silver made, but it’s not all of them. You still need three-fourths of them and I’ve only seen three or four of them comment. We need more than three or four.”
It’s not just LeBron who supports it, anyone with a conscious does too. Sterling is a dinosaur, a relic of an era that continuously bombards American culture and history with black eyes and his swift removal from the NBA was just and needed. He now needs to go as owner as the saying that there’s no place in professional sports for a racist dinosaur with Neanderthal views on society shouldn’t be taken lightly.
