Shane Battier Recovering From Flu, Expected to Play vs. Nets

The Miami Heat now know that they’ll be playing the Brooklyn Nets and the next step in the journey to a three-peat is to make sure the roster is fully healthy. While there are nagging injuries holding some players back, others are battling non basketball related ailments, like Shane Battier who has been battling the flu.

He’s been useless to the Heat so far but they haven’t really needed to be firing on all cylinders like they will have to against Brooklyn this week. Battier noted that he’s been a bit sick as of late but also mentioned he should deb fine moving forward.

Per the Sun-Sentinel:

“I’m almost there. I’m not doing great, but I got tired of staying home. If nothing else it was an opportune time to get sick,” Battier joked about missing the previous two days of conditioning drills.

While he may be in a joking mood, the Heat need him in a winning mode on the court. He will be able to lean on James Jones if he can’t play his full amount of minutes but Battier will be a key part of a push for a three-peat and the Heat need him healthy.
