The Heat took Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals with a convincing 107-86 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
The First Quarter was very competitive, as the Heat jumped out to an early 22-20 lead after one. LeBron James led the Heat with six points in the quarter. Paul Pierce also scored six points in the quarter for the Nets.
The Second Quarter was tightly contested also and the Heat won that quarter 24-23, to take a 46-43 lead into halftime. Mario Chalmers scored six in the quarter to lead the Heat. Joe Johnson scored eight in the period for the Nets.
The Heat came out of halftime and took control of the game, outscoring Brooklyn 33-23 in the Third Quarter, pushing their lead to 79-66 heading into the final period. Chris Bosh paced the Heat in the quarter with nine points. Deron Williams scored eight for the Nets, including a buzzer beating three to end the quarter (his second of the game).
The Heat also won the Fourth Quarter by a score of 28-20, to push their final lead to 21. Ray Allen scored nine in the quarter to close the game out for the Heat. Marcus Thornton also scored nine in the period for Brooklyn.
In all, for the Heat, James led all scorers with 22 points, to go along with five rebounds. Bosh finished with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Dwyane Wade added 14 points, five assists, and four rebounds.
For Brooklyn, Joe Johnson finished with 17 points. Deron Williams also finished with 17 points. Thornton added 11 points off the bench.
Game 2 is scheduled for Thursday at 7 pm.
