Nets vs. Heat Game 1: NBA Announces Officials for First Game

The NBA has announced who will be officiating tonight’s Game 1 matchup between the Miami Heat and the Brooklyn Nets. According to the NBA, referees Mike Callahan, Ron Garretson, Sean Wright and John Goble will all be on hand to officiate the first game of this series and could very likely be back and rotating throughout the series’ duration, however long that may be.

While it seems meaningless to Heat fans, the fact of the matter is one of the first things opposing fans like to complain about when they get beat is the officials ruling on the side of the Heat. We’ve seen it before and when it involves a rivalry game like this, officiating will be under a microscope.

Not all officiating goes the way of the Heat though as let’s not forget LeBron James getting elbowed in the throat in Game 2 against Charlotte. We can expect physicality in this series but Callahan and his crew will at least make sure that Game 1 is as free of flying elbows as possible.
