Post-Game Grades: Miami Heat Take Game 1 vs Brooklyn Nets

Miami Heat 107, Brooklyn Nets 86

Recap | Box Score

LeBron James: B+

10-15 FG, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 assists, 1 turnover, 22 points

LeBron’s 22 points came easy. On a couple of plays, Dwyane Wade found him cutting to the basket for some easy buckets. On other plays, LeBron was feeling his shot and would head fake before draining a jumper. But most his points came in the paint, leading the charge for 52 total points in the paint (compared to Brooklyn’s 28).

Chris Bosh: B+

5-11 FG (1-4 3FG), 11 rebounds, 3 assists, 15 points

Bosh’s play early in the third quarter helped open up the lead for the Heat. In 3 minutes and 13 seconds, Bosh scored nine points to give Miami a 10-point edge. His 11 rebounds were also a game-high.

Ray Allen: A

6-10 FG (4-7 3FG), 4 rebounds, 3 assists, 19 points

At one point in the fourth quarter, Allen and LeBron combined for 15-straight points. Later, the TNT crew got LeBron calling Allen “Hey-Zeus.” Allen was four of seven from beyond the arc, but he also passed up a couple of three-pointers after pump faking his defender off him and getting some wide open mid-range looks. His 19 points were more than that of Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett combined (8).

Chris Andersen: B+

2-3 FG, 4 rebounds, 4 blocks, 7 points

4 BLOCKS!!! Including two in the fourth quarter!

Miami Heat: A

42-74 (9-23 3FG), 14-16 FT, 37 rebounds to Brooklyn’s 32, 22 assists to Brooklyn’s 11, 10 turnovers to Brooklyn’s 11

Fresh off a first-round sweep, the Heat were ready to go tonight. Brooklyn, meanwhile, looked sluggish after wrapping up a seven-game series against Toronto this past weekend. Miami took advantage of home court and attacked the Nets in the paint with a series of switches the Nets couldn’t keep up with and well-times passes that they couldn’t anticipate.
