The Nets ended the Heat’s six-game winning streak in the playoffs, on the strength of 15 three-pointers, in a 104-90 win to close the gap to 2 games to 1 in the Eastern Conference Semi-Finals matchup.
The Heat edged out the Nets in a high scoring First Quarter (by this series’ standards), 30-29. LeBron James led all scorers with 16 points in the quarter, including a couple of very impressive three-point plays. Andray Blatche led the Nets with nine points in the period.
The Nets took the Second Quarter from the Heat, 22-19, to take a 51-49 lead into halftime. Joe Johnson led the Nets with six points in the quarter. Dwyane Wade scored six points in the period to lead the Heat.
The Nets dominated the Third Quarter, 26-14, to take a 77-63 lead into the final period. Mirza Teletovic scored nine points in the period, all on made three pointers. Wade scored eight in the quarter to pace the Heat
Both teams scored 27 points in the Fourth Quarter, but for the Heat, it was far too late. Alan Anderson scored eight points in the quarter for Brooklyn. James Jones came off the bench to score nine points off the bench, all from behind the three-point arc.
In all, for Miami, James finished with 28 points, to go along with eight rebounds and five assists. Wade added 20 points. Chris Bosh scored 12 points and grabbed five rebounds.
For the Nets, Johnson scored a team-high 19 points. Blatche scored 15 points and grabbed 10 rebounds off the bench. Paul Pierce scored 14 points.
Game 4 will be played Monday, May 12th. The tip-off is scheduled for 8:00 pm.
