LeBron James is in Miami, Paul Pierce is in Brooklyn and Doc Rivers is out west in Los Angeles but there is bad blood that connects all three of them in a different era and in different places. SI.com’s Chris Mannix recently ran a story about the bad blood between Pierce and LeBron and cites, among other reasons, the fact that LeBron once tried to ‘steal’ then-Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers and bring him to Cleveland.
Pierce and James will never work out together like James and Kevin Durant, or discuss teaming up when both hit free agency next summer. James’s constant complaining irks Pierce, as does his belief, league sources say, that James once tried to recruit Doc Rivers to Cleveland when Rivers was coaching the Celtics.
Obviously, Doc Rivers never came to Cleveland, LeBron didn’t stay much longer and everyone is in new places at the moment. But the bad blood with Pierce and LeBron clearly runs deep still as the Nets veteran isn’t ready to let go of the past just this yet.
