The Miami Heat are likely on their way to another NBA Finals appearance, as the Indiana Pacers are not the team they were last year and have had their fair share of ugly struggles this postseason. That being said, they are still a dangerous team and mustn’t be taken for granted.
No matter what happens though, the Heat are 8-1 in the postseason so far and are far better than any other team still standings. The Bobcats and Nets weren’t what you’d call formidable opponents, but Ira Winderman reminds us to take pause and reflect on just what the Heat have put together not just this postseason but the past four they’ve been to.
The sustained excellence says plenty about LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh, as well as what Pat Riley has assembled alongside. Friday and Saturday, when there are no NBA games, it might be a time to take stock in what has transpired at 601 Biscayne. Incredible.
We do need to take pause — as basketball fans in general — and soak up what we’re seeing. Young fans today look back at the Celtics, Lakers and Bulls dynasties of years past and wonder what it was like to be alive and witnessing history as it happened. Strip away the flash, the flare and all of the South Beach glitz and that’s what we have — history as it happens and it’s truly amazing to watch.
