The Miami Heat are trying not to think about the possibility of losing LeBron James in the offseason but it’s a bridge we’re going to have to cross at some point. Despite the fact that he’s unlikely to opt-out before 2015, there are some people out there that feel the need to insist that he’s going to.
That’s what prompts questions like the one asked to Kentucky Wildcats head coach John Calipari in which he’s asked if he’d want to coach LeBron James.
“Are you kidding me?” the University of Kentucky coach said in a telephone interview on Wednesday morning. “Have a chance to coach the best player in the world? Yes, I would love to coach him. But what’s happened is our careers are criss-crossing without crossing.
Beyond it being the most loaded question in the history of terribly loaded questions, this is another example of those outside of Miami trying to pry LeBron James away to fulfill some weird fantasy they had in 2011 in which LeBron needs to pay for his sins and leave Miami.
The fact of the matter is, LeBron is staying in Miami and John Calipari will not be coaching him. Some people get that but these questions won’t be going away anytime soon.
