The Miami Heat have been blasted in the recent past for their lack of depth on the bench, but their issues with depth aren’t all entirely their fault as the Heat have been ravaged by injuries all season long. It also doesn’t help that their secret weapon is the most injury prone human being on Earth, as Greg Oden’s inability to stay healthy has surprised no one.
Still, the Heat would like to get him back at some point in the series they signed him for and it appears that he may be on his way back. For a second time since the loss in Game 1, Erik Spoelstra has sounded positive when it comes to Oden returning to the lineup.
“I want him to have this week of work and we’ll re-evaluate him at the end of the week,” Spoelstra said. “He was coming back and progressing. He’s able now to take the next step and we’re encouraged about that.”
The Heat don’t need Oden but they clearly need some sort of help to get past the Pacers. Maybe the pieces that can help them just need to kick it into high gear, but having Oden as an option against the Pacers will still be something nice to see and it sounds like we may finally get a look at Oden in the next few games.
