Greg Oden Unlikely to Return to Miami Heat for Playoffs

The Miami Heat are tied in their series against the Indiana Pacers but there’s someone we should maybe not expect back for the rest of the playoffs. While he hasn’t officially been ruled out, the Miami Heat are highly unlikely to play Greg Oden for the rest of the postseason or at the very least the rest of this series against the Pacers.

Per Ira Winderman:

I can’t fathom that after being away from the team so long that Greg Oden could possibly work his way into minutes in this series, considering the stakes. The issue supposedly now is back spasms, but even Oden said he could have played in the series’ opening games if summoned.

That’s just an opinion but it’s probably one shared by the Heat considering they’re a logical organization. Miami just can’t afford any sort of slip up against the Heat and playing Greg Oden just makes no sense. He’s played hardly any meaningful minutes this season and putting him in right now may cause more harm than anything else.

He may play at some point as we can’t rule it out, but as Winderman pointed out the Heat have had chances to play Oden and they’ve refused which says all we need to know.
