Miami Heat Bench Mario Chalmers for Game 5

The Miami Heat are looking at a situation in which they could possibly lose out on history and fail to in their third straight championship. These NBA Finals have been disastrous for the Heat and in particular for point guard Mario Chalmers.

Still, it comes as a surprise that Erik Spoelstra has decided to bench Chalmers before Game 5 and start Ray Allen in his place.

Chalmers was looking like he could be in line for a decent contract after the NBA Finals when he hits free agency but now not even the Heat might take him back which shows how far and hard he’s fallen in just four games. The kicker is his being benched before Game 5, something that shows an utter lack of confidence from Spoelstra and the Heat staff.

This is a brutal way for Chalmers to possibly end his NBA season but it’s something that might help Miami rebound and get back into this series. The Heat need to bring this series back to Miami and having Chalmers on the bench to start the game could be the change this team needs.
