The Miami Heat need a point guard, Mario Chalmers made that abundantly clear during the NBA Finals, and this offseason will see filling that position as s top priority. While names like Kyle Lowry and others are decent ideas, there are more options out there for the Heat than one might think and Eric Bledsoe in Phoenix could be a real possibility.
According to NBA scribe Chuck Myron, the Miami Heat may get bold this offseason and go hard after a big free agent to help heal the wounds of their NBA Finals loss and to make a statement that this era of the Heat is not yet over.
Eric Bledsoe and LeBron share the same agent, but the Suns seem intent on matching any offer he gets. Really, though, it’s tough to count out anyone, since the Heat are about as attractive as they come for free agents. So, in other words, don’t be surprised to see a surprise guy in Miami this summer.
The main problem with Bledose is that the Suns are planning on matching any offer that he gets in his restricted free agency and there’s a good chance that someone offers him a max deal. There’s a price that the Heat won’t pay, but they’ll know it when they see it and Bledsoe may be a guy worth going above and beyond to get. I’d even lobby for a sign-and-trade that lands Bledsoe, but that’s just me.
It’s not a guarantee that the Heat will target Bledsoe, but if he hasn’t already come up in front office conversations then he probably should soon.
