The NBA offseason arrived very unpleasantly for the Miami Heat this year and while we’re all still mourning the NBA Finals loss to the San Antonio Spurs, attention is starting to be focused on what LeBron James will do and where he will go.
Another major topic of conversation is where Carmelo Anthony will go and somehow the Miami Heat continue to get mentioned in regards to a place where he can sign, as though this sort of things is actually possible.
According to Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders — as well as general and basic common sense — the Miami Heat are unlikely to have enough money to bring Carmelo Anthony on this summer and add him to the Big 3 or to form a new Big 3.
This really isn’t anything new, as the Heat would need to make some major adjustments to find the cash to fit Melo on the roster and there’s not a very good chance of LeBron James taking a paycut to help make another Big 3 happen. While it’s a cute idea to consider Melo on this team, it’s a pipe dream that likely won’t happen and if it does then it would be in place of possibly two of the three best players on the Heat roster and at that point Melo is better off in Chicago or Houston.
