Riley on Adding Carmelo Anthony: 'That's a Pipe Dream'

Speaking to the media Thursday, Pat Riley may just have put to bed any rumors of the Miami Heat adding Carmelo Anthony this summer.

“That’s a pipe dream but everybody thought 2010 was a pipe dream, too. I don’t harbor that thought. That’s not where we are headed. That’s not what we’re thinking about.”

I like where Riley’s head is at. Making the Big Three a Big Four wouldn’t solve much. A fourth star would alter the dynamics of this team too much. It looks good on paper, but Melo would take shots away from Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh. How would that go over in the locker room?

While Riley may have quashed Melo-to-Miami rumors, anyone with half a brain knew

it wasn’t really happening. This editor says it was a good rumor to generate clicks while it lasted.
