This offseason will be an interesting one for the Miami Heat as the team is going to have to see what pieces they can add to make sure they don’t flame out in the NBA Finals for a third time in the era of the Big 3. Who knows, perhaps the Big 3 is reduced to just two, but no matter what the Heat do, they’re going to have to find a way to add depth to the roster and productive depth at that.
According to Nate Duncan from Basketball Insiders, the Miami Heat could take a look at Vince Carter as an option to either replace Ray Allen if he retires or to add more depth to the roster.
Carter seems to be a classic Heat option as he’s up there in age and is looking like he may ride off into the sunset in the very near future. His chances at making a title run are slimming, but that might be more of a problem for the Heat than you’d think. They’re not a sure thing to win every year, and veterans coming to Miami to chase titles misfired twice so far in the last four years.
Carter isn’t a bad option and if he comes dirt cheap than the Heat should at least consider it, but let’s be careful that Miami doesn’t become a basketball retirement home while the team is trying to win a title.
