The Miami Heat are going to have an interesting offseason this year as the team needs to figure out the proper role players to fill out the rest of their roster but they need to make sure they don’t go overboard with the spending.
According to Nate Duncan from Basketball Insiders, the Miami Heat could target former Chicago Bulls swingman Luol Deng should they be able to find the proper money for it.
If the big 3 all re-sign for $15 million, that leaves about $17 million in cap space plus the room exception to get that done. Luol Deng actually could be a decent fit in Miami if he were willing to sign for a relative discount
This seems to be a bit of an interesting notion as one of the reasons many thought Deng wouldn’t re-sign in Cleveland after he was traded there from Chicago was that he didn’t want to come off the bench behind LeBron. Of course, he may be more receptive if he were coming to Miami rather than if he were to stay in Cleveland and have LeBron come to him, but Deng remains an interesting possibility for the Heat, even if he is a bit pricey.
After all, if we’re all going to try and seriously consider Carmelo Anthony in Miami, what’s the harm in thinking abour Luol Deng, who would come significantly cheaper.
