Heat Vice President of Personnel Chet Kammerer said Tuesday that the Miami Heat are doing there homework on in-state prospects for the upcoming NBA Draft.
“We’ve looked at the Florida players obviously,” Kammerer said, via the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. “We’ve looked at Central Florida. We even had a player from Miami. Florida had a great team and we’ve looked at the Florida players.”
The Heat have the 26th pick in Thursday’s draft, but will also be picking at No. 55 in the second round. If they were to select a player from Florida, it would likely be later in the night.
The Heat have already met with Florida swingman Casey Prather. If they are looking at players from UCF (Go Knights!) then it stands to reason it would be guard-forward Isaiah Sykes. Miami guard Rion Brown recently worked out for other NBA teams as well.
Even if the Heat don’t draft a player from the great Sunshine State, they could still sign them to participate on the summer league roster.
