Ray Allen is leaning toward returning for another NBA season, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
Allen has a desire to continue playing alongside LeBron James, whom he developed a close relationship with during their two seasons together in Miami, whether it is with the Heat or another team. James and Allen vacationed together last week after the Heat were beaten in the NBA Finals by the San Antonio Spurs.
Allen was considering retiring, but it seems as if the Miami Heat will hold on to its sharp shooter for another year. Allen, whose contract expires this summer, likely wouldn’t decide to keep playing if Miami wasn’t willing to bring him back.
LeBron, who opted out of his contract with the Heat Tuesday morning, is likely a key factor to Allen signing another contract as well. Should LeBron sign elsewhere, Allen would have to decide if he wants to move again to play with the four-time MVP.
Allen will turn 39 on July 20.
