Big Three Hold First 'Summit Meeting' of Offseason

As was expected to happen eventually, LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh met today to discuss their plans this offseason. The meeting was first reported by the Miami Herald’s Lesley Abravanel, who Tweeted that the three had lunch together Wednesday. ESPN is reporting that the three discussed their futures.

Much like they did before signing with theMiami Heat in 2010, LeBron James,Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh got together for a meeting to discuss their futures on Wednesday, sources told ESPN.com.

LeBron, Bosh and Wade asked to be left alone while they enjoyed some plates, and also discussed their evening plans.

These meetings are relatively common. As Brian Windhorst notes in his report, the three agreed in 2006 to sign matching deals that made them all free agents in 2010. That year, they all signed similar deals with early termination options for this summer.

LeBron opted out of his contract Tuesday morning, making him a free agent. Wade and Bosh have yet to make any decisions on what they will do public.

It’s important to note that even though LeBron opted out, players can still discuss free agency with each other before the official period begins on July 1. However, team representatives cannot talk with free agents before then, or else it is considered tampering.

  • Real M-Fing talk !!!

First…. there is NO big 3 and anyone who refers to them as such has NO creditability
clearly it’s the big-1 and two hangers-on, One who’s washed up and does not want to admit his he would best serve the team coming off the bench… and the other, a dinosaur hatchling who would rather hang out behind the arc and shoot 3′s for 20 million a year… I cannot believe people actually believe that “velociraptor” could be a hall of famer, he is the quintessential definition of a coattail rider… what has Bosh done in toronto? that guy could not lead bleep to bleep muchless an NBA team to the playoffs !

Bosh is a hall of famer whether you believe he should be or not. All of the numbers from all star appearances to championships to Olympic medals to franchise records to career counting stats show that he will be in.

That may be an indictment of the process, but Bosh will be in and probably would be in if his career ended today.

      • Real M-Fing talk !!!

So would kevin love, who has never led a team over the .500 mark… but unlike bosh i believe Kevin love is a hall of famer, you see the difference? one is great the other is not !… I do not need numbers to tell me that !

This was your statement: “I cannot believe people actually believe that “velociraptor” could be a hall of famer”

Believe it. He will be. People believe it because it is objectively true. Had you said you couldn’t believe that people think he SHOULD be a hall of famer, then you may have a point.

  • Real M-Fing talk !!!

“First” Summit of the offseason? you really need to give your head a shake if you think this is really that important in the scheme of things to be using those words, How about three clowns deciding where they’re playing basketball next year.. you are welcome !!!

Why does everything these clowns do have to be over the top? i could understand if all three had game… Why not just meet up at the “raptor’s” cave, i am sure he has enough room to discuss business, if that’s priority one, and not just to be seen or make it look like they’re addressing issues, if they were addressing real issues Wade and Bosh would have said why they haven’t opt out yet?
