The Miami Heat failed to do anything big in the NBA Finals and now all eyes are on what they could do this offseason to get better. They added Shabazz Napier already and they’re eyeing LeBron James on the open market for the second time in four years but there are other names on the roster that may get lost in the shuffle.
According to Sam Amick from USA Today, the Miami Heat may have some competition when it comes the future of Chris Bosh as he is expected to be pursued by the Houston Rockets once he hits free agency.
“James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh have the ability to opt out of their Heat contracts, and Bosh would certainly be on the Rockets’ short list of targets should James decide to head elsewhere. Should Anthony opt out of his New York Knicks deal, he could take a similar path to the one chosen by Howard last July – eschew the flagship franchise that is flailing for the fourth-largest city in the country and a talented roster that, once Howard was in tow, won 54 games before being eliminated in the first round of the playoffs by the Portland Trail Blazers.”
Bosh is probably the most expendable of the Big 3 and he’s also always been the most likely to leave. He will be opting out of his contract this summer and when he does it’s clear we’ll have competition.
