When LeBron James opted out of his contract with the Miami Heat, there were a slew of teams mentioned as possible landing spots for him. A team we had been hearing for a while resurfaced that day as the Los Angeles Clippers — now under soon-to-be new ownership — look to be back in the fold to hunt LeBron.
According to Yahoo Sports, LeBron and his camp are intrigued with the idea of playing for the Los Angeles Clippers, which is something that we’re not sure how seriously we should take it.
The most intriguing move on the mind of James and his camp, sources told Yahoo Sports, would be a sign-and-trade scenario with the Los Angeles Clippers in which James could play with close friend Chris Paul and under president-coach Doc Rivers. Nevertheless, Miami has remained the primary consideration for James, sources said. He wants to see Riley’s plans for improving the roster.
Obviously cap space would need to be found to sign LeBron James but when you’re talking about the best player on the planet you find the motivation to get the space you need.
Miami might push for a sign-and-trade if LeBron truly does decide L.A. is where he wants to go but right now this looks more like a power play by LeBron than actual interest.
