The Miami Heat have a lot of cap space to play with this offseason and the only way they’re going to get LeBron James back is to make sure they use that cap space responsibly to fill out the roster with talent.
The list of players that the Heat can pursue to convince LeBron to come back is rather lengthy and that list gets even longer when players add their name to it on their own behalf. According to the Miami Herald, the Heat are a team that Caron Butler might be interested in and the question then is would the Heat be interested in Butler?
Caron Butler indicated during his radio interview that the Miami Heat approached him last season after he had already committed to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Otherwise, he might have signed on with the Heat. The Heat could have certainly used him. He said he would consider signing with the Heat this summer, but everything is contingent on James, Wade and Bosh.
Butler chose the Oklahoma City Thunder over the Heat earlier in the season when Miami was looking at contracts to take on before the playoff eligibility deadline, so it’s interesting to see how that could factor into things.
Butler is another player who we can expect to not take a ton of money to join the Heat which makes him an excellent option for bench depth but he’s by no means a top option at this point.
