NBA Free agency i now upon us and it seems that the Miami Heat are being much more aggressive than we thought they might be in the first hours of the period being open. Already they’ve reached out to Kyle Lowry, shown an interest in Luol Deng and are looking at other point guard options they could pursue.
According to Aaron Bruski of NBC Sports, the Dallas Mavericks, Detroit Pistons, Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns are all after Thomas.
League sources tell PBT that Isaiah Thomas is drawing interest from the Pistons, Mavs, Lakers, Heat and Suns.

Thomas isn’t a slam dunk sort of name, as he’s no Kyle Lowry but he has tremendous upside that the Heat clearly love. With Mario Chalmers not getting phoned by anyone, including the Heat, and Norris Cole acting as trade bait, Miami seems to be looking for a guard to pair with rookie Shabazz Napier.
The only problem with Thomas is that it seems he still needs a mentor in his career to step in and show him the ropes of being a true point guard leader and he’s not in a position to teach yet. Still, if the Heat grab Thomas they may have enough veteran leadership to come out alright but he’s not someone you would want as your first option when Lowry and other veterans can be had.
