The Miami Heat are trying to make sure they can put together the best roster they can to convince Lebron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh to return to South Beach next season, but so far their free agent hunt has turned up no big names.
Plenty of big names have been rumored as being involved with the Heat and one name that doesn’t seem to be going away is that of former Chicago Bulls swingman Luol Deng.
According to Yahoo! Sports guru Adrian Wojnarowski, the Miami Heat indeed have interest in Luol Deng and could work towards a sign-and-trade that lands him in South Beach this summer.
The Heat have interest in free-agent forward Luol Deng, who is traveling in Europe and may not be available for face-to-face meetings for several days, a source told Yahoo Sports. Miami could try to arrange a sign-and-trade agreement with Cleveland to acquire Deng, but nothing has started in that process, sources said.
There is a lot to chew on if you’re a Heat fans and you’re trying to figure out if the Heat are interested in Luol Deng or not. There was a report earlier on Tuesday that indicated the Heat’s chances of getting Deng weren’t all that great but this seems to indicate otherwise.
Then again, getting a meeting with Deng and actually signing him are two very different things as the Heat are still trying to figure out who best fits this team and won’t be making quick signings, which may take guys off the market for them as other teams start to step up to the plate.
